Position & Client Overview:

We are looking for a contract medical technologist for a high-volume level one trauma center. This is a six-month evening shift assignment in one of the richest historic cities in the nation, Philadelphia.

This incredible opportunity at a prestigious university teaching hospital offers a lucrative compensation package including an hourly rate, a daily tax-free per diem and a tax-free housing stipend or HCI will provide housing along with all travel perks. 

The ideal blood banker must have experience with cross matching as well as patient histories. In addition, experience with Immucor analyzers such as NEO is helpful as well as Cerner Millennium LIS.

Must be an SBB or BB with a bachelor's degree and MLS(ASCP) with strong blood banking skills and experience.

Weekly Pay Rate: $2,845

Job Summary:

Blood bank technologists perform both routine and specialized tests in blood banks, blood donor centers, transfusion services, reference laboratories and research facilities.

 

Skill Requirements:

  • Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and maintain the equipment
  • Dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required to collect and prepare specimens
  • Lab safety and infection prevention is of paramount importance

 

Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:

  • Testing for blood group antigens, compatibility and antibody identification
  • Investigating abnormalities and adverse reactions to transfusion
  • Supporting physicians in transfusion therapy for patients 
  • Performing viral marker testing to ensure patient safety
  • Managing patient blood

 

Education, Certification, & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in science
  • MT/MLT/MLS (ASCP) certification or equivalent; SBB (ASCP) certification a plus
  • Five (5) years experience
